U.S. Women Name Paris Hilton Princess

Hotel heiress and reality TV star Paris Hilton is the American Princess of the 21st Century, a poll by WE: Women's Entertainment network concluded.

The research firm InsightExpress asked 1,000 U.S. women over the age of 18 for their perceptions of royalty and who they thought most embodies the role of U.S. royalty.

Paris Hilton received a whopping 48 percent of the votes followed by Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg in second place and Hilton's sister, Nicky in third place, WE said in a news release.

When told about the poll and her honorary title, Princess Paris replied, "That's hot!" WE said.

Hilton's reign could be short, however. The WE is launching American Princess Sunday, which will have 20 women competing for the title of American Princess.

God Save the Queen, eh? I love you, Canada, and Queen Elizabeth II as well.

Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg would probably still be #1 if her brother were alive. She just pretty much stays out of the public eye as the only one left in that part of the Kennedy clan.

No, she wouldn't, not if Paris Hilton were in the spotlight in the same fashion. I have never even heard of Ms. Kennedy.

The fact that either Hilton child has support from even one person on being called royalty is rather disgusting and unsettling.

The reason you've not heard that much of Caroline is she was always much less in the spotlight than her brother. John John was America's Prince for many many years and when he took a wife she became to Princess. When they died in that crash we all mourned.

Caroline though is still a figure many Americans follow as they expect her to live with as much grace as the only woman we've ever thought of as Queen her mother Jackie O.

Caroline? John John and his princess? Who exactly are you talking about? I haven't heard of any of the people mentioned. It must be some sort of American cultural thing, but that demeans actual monarchy to call civilians princes and princesses.

America doesn't have royalty. America is outright opposed to royalty, or elsee they'd simply be a part of the commonwealth and answer to the Queen.

The Royal Family of Camelot was the Kennedy family during the Kennedy presidency. Its well documented in American political culture. Most Canadians I would assume know of John F. Kennedy and the American magnatism to him and his family.

My husband says that any royalty names given to the Kennedy family were simply nicknames. There never were, nor will there likely ever be true royalty from American blood lording over American soil.

Prince Nelson (the artist formerly known as the artist formerly known as Prince) is not royalty, it's just a name that he goes by.

Yes, Canadians are familiar with J.F.K., but when you said "John John" that only served to be confusing. I don't know of affectionate nicknames doled out onto past presidents. But the idea that anyone thinks of the Kennedeys as royalty in any true sense is very much laughable.

Yes they were nicknames basically, but they were the only Americans ever really considered to be close to royalty. They are referred to as Americans Royal Family. Obviously we don't have a Royal family as we didn't want that which is why we opted for a president, but the obsession with royalty is still there. The Kennedy family will probably be the only family in American history ever to be considered "royal". Most women still in American practically worship at the altar of Jackie O.

John John was in reference to his son. I just assumed that if you knew the president you'd know that I was referencing something related to the family.
